What is the Pick My Load concept?

Pick My Load is an on-demand transportation service provider that engages all parties of freight industry in one place, eliminating the cost of traditional intermediaries and increasing the efficiency of freight scheduling.

What is the Pick My Load service area?

Pick My Load is currently designed to match shippers with carriers in Canada and in the United States, including trans-border operations. We are working hard to expand to other region of the world to service and help more professional from the transportation industry optimizing their operations.

Where can I find the Pick My Load Terms of Service?

Our Terms and conditions are here. All Pick My Load shippers and carriers are required to accept them prior to using the services.

Can a Pick My Load shipper or carrier contact me directly?

According to our Terms of Service, it is strictly forbidden for either party to solicit business from one another for 6 months from the last date of a shipment between the parties. If this occurs, both parties will be asked to cease and desist and are subject to being asked to leave the marketplace.

Shipper

Are carriers prescreened?

Yes, all carriers who utilize the Pick My Load platform are pre-screened. They must meet all of the criteria during our compliance process to be authorized to use the Driver App. We are committed to selecting carriers who meet the highest industry standards.

Can I get a quote before I book a shipment?

This is what is different with Pick My Load. We offer you to suggest your own shipment price. For each shipment, you will receive only one offer from each interested carrier, either at your price or higher. You will then be able to choose the carrier's offer that best suit your needs. Adjust the suggested price to optimize your shipment cost!

Can the cost change after I book?

Your final cost can change from the first selected price if you decide to perform a Load Review. You can adjust your shipment by +/- 25% of the original capacity (weight, volume, etc.). Price can be adjusted accordingly. Things like pick-up or drop-off location, scheduled times are different or driver assist, accessorial or wait-time charges are not Pick My Load responsibility.

Can I cancel a load I have posted on the load board?

You can cancel your load at any moment with no penalty until you validate a carrier to pick-up your freight. Once the carrier's offer has been accepted by you, cancellation fees of $125 CAD will be charged and $100 CAD will be given to the carrier.

Can I select my Carrier?

You will be the one deciding on what carriers you are going to work with based on various information (star rating system, number of deliveries made, insurance coverage level, safety rating, etc.). Please contact info@pickmyload.ca for more information.

What if I don't want to work with a carrier?

You will be able after each load delivered to tag the carrier you worked with as a professional you do not want to do business with in the future. The offer this carrier will make on one of your future load will have a red banner, indicating they are not your first choice carriers. Contact info@pickmyload.ca if you want to ban a carrier prior to connecting with them through the web site or mobile apps.

Am I required to provide a Bill of Lading?

Yes, all shipments must be accompanied by a bill of lading (BOL). The BOL should be given to the carrier at pick-up. Missing BOLs will delay the shipment. Pick My Load is creating an automated version of the BOL for your use. Pease make sure that all information is accurate prior to using it, it is your responsibility.

How do I provide feedback on a shipment?

After you have received a proof of delivery for your shipment, you can rate the shipment. Each shipment can be rated 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the highest rating.

How do I perform a payment in Pick My Load?
  • A first option is to pay the entirety of the transportation services prior to engaging with a carrier. Pick My Load initiates the carrier's payment as soon as the load is marked "completed" by you.
  • A second option is to pay the carriers within your own terms and conditions. Pick My Load only generates the invoices "in the name and on behalf" of the carrier and sends the invoices to both you and carrier. You are responsible to pay the transportation services directly to the carrier. Carrier know what the payment method is prior to making an offer on a specific load. Your credit and risk scores are provided to the carrier if you decided to pay within your own payment terms.
Why do I have to enter my credit card information?

Pick My Load requires all shippers to add their credit card details to be able to use the PML services. Nevertheless, you will be able to transfer money directly into your PML account and use it to pay the PML services fee or the entire transportation amount.

Carrier

Who can be a Pick My Load carrier?

Any Carrier who has a valid MC (Motor Carrier) Authority for the U.S, CVOR/NIR Authority for Canada and required insurance has the potential to become an authorized carrier with our platform. If you're approved, we will provide you with all the information you need to use the platform, after which you can start to find and accept loads.

What kind of trucks is Pick My Load looking for?

We are looking for most types of commercial trucks, including Removable Gooseneck (RGNs), straight trucks, tractor trailers, flatbeds, reefers, cargo vans and drayage tractors.

Do Carriers need smartphones?

Yes, Only Truck Drivers need a smartphone to work with Pick My Load. We currently are on Google Play and in the App Store. Fleet dispatcher do not need to have a smartphone and can take all required actions from their desktop on the Pick My Load website.

I downloaded the App, and it's not working!

You cannot use the App until you are authorized. Please sign up through the website and our onboarding team will be in touch.

What is the signup process for Android?

You must be authorized before you can use the App. Please sign up through the website, watch the following video and our onboarding team will be in touch. The Android app may be downloaded here.

What is the signup process for iPhone?

You must be authorized before you can use the App. Please sign up through the website, watch the following video, and our implementation team will be in touch. The iPhone app may be downloaded here. The app is optimized for iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus and iPad.

Will I need to use the Pick My Load app for all my Pick My Load shipments?

Yes, you need to use the Pick My Load App for all shipments you accept through Pick My Load. You must use your own protocol for non-Pick My Load shipments.

Once I sign up, when can I start carrying freight?

You can begin carrying freight once you are authorized. Sign up through the website to begin the onboarding process.

How do I use the App?

If required, Pick My Load will schedule a time for one of our experts to personally consult with you after you have watched a training video and provided all the information you need to use the platform. Ask for a personal training time at info@pickmyload.ca.

Owner Operators

You perform a sign-up directly from the Pick My Load website, and our team of experts will review your profile before authorizing you to use the tool.

Drivers

Fleet drivers will be managed by each fleet dispatcher and assigned on transportation won by the fleet. They will be given the chance to download a light version of the mobile app to perform all the required action during the transportation cycle.

Dispatch Teams

You perform a sign-up directly from the Pick My Load website, and our team of experts will review your profile before authorizing you to use the tool. You will quickly understand how straight-forward the process is and will be confident in using Pick My Load to pick up the right load immediately.

Who supplies the bill of lading?

The shipper must supply the bill of lading (BOL) at pick up and carriers should not pick up a shipment without one. Email info@pickmyload.ca if the shipper does not have a BOL at pick up.

How will I get paid?

Shippers have two payment options while using the Pick My Load services.

  • A first option is to pay the entirety of the transportation services prior to engaging with a carrier. Pick My Load will initiate your payment as soon as the load is marked "completed" by the shipper. It is called Quick Pay!
  • A second option is for the shipper to pay you within their own terms and conditions. Pick My Load only generates the invoices "in the name and on behalf" of your company and sends the invoices to both you and the shipper. The shipper is responsible to pay the transportation services directly to you.

Before making an offer on a load, you will know what the payment method is. Credit and Risk scores are provided to you if the shipper decided to pay you directly.

Can I cancel an offer I made on a load?

No, your offer will remain active until the shipper accepts it or rejects it. You will receive a notification as soon as your offer has been accepted or rejected.

How many offers can I do at the same time?

Only make an offer on a load that you can deliver if the shipper selects you. In case you are being awarded a load and you are not showing-up at pick-up, you will be asked to cease and are subject to being asked to leave the marketplace. Nevertheless, more than one offer can be performed at the same time, allowing fleet dispatchers to assign several drivers at the time.

Who do I call if I have a problem with the shipment?

Our Support Team is available to help you with any issue you may have. Email info@pickmyload.ca. Our hours of operation are 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. Pick My Load offices are closed on weekends and some federal holidays, including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, Saint Jean-Baptiste day, Canada day.

What if I get a bad star rating on a shipment?

Pick My Load requires all shippers to rate each carrier on a shipment by shipment basis. Carriers will be provided with all ratings received from shippers. Pick my load reserves the right to cancel or adjust any abusive star rating that could occur during a transaction between shippers and carriers.

Why am I asked to enter my bank detail information?

In case the shipper decides to pay the full transportation amount through the PML service, we will require your bank information to pay you and perform an EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) or ACH in the United States. (Automated Clearing House.)
